Books for the iPhone and iPod Touch

Click the above for some very exciting news and some great screen shots of how fiction will appear on the iPhone/iPod Touch.

A novel the size of Once a Hero comes in at just over 2.1 megs—mainly because of having a map and a picture of the author in it. What that means, however, is that five hundred or more novels can fit in just one gigabyte of an iPhone’s memory. Take a bookcase six feet tall, twenty-six inches wide, six shelves, and jam it full of paperbacks. You can load three of those bookcases into a gig, with room left over!

Best of all, the individual books are small enough that you can download them directly into an iPhone or Touch without using a computer!

Michael Zapp has worked wonders preparing the books. Kassie Klaybourne has done the graphics (which you’ve seen on the books for sale here, too). Everything is set for Friday’s launch of the Appstore.

Welcome to the future. You can read all about it on your iPhone!
