Third Life World Exposition and Faire this weekend

I mentioned recently that I was working to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life through Second Life. In our region we have over thirty items for sale to raise money for this worthy cause. In addition, this weekend (April 2-6, 2009), we’re having an Exposition and Faire where numerous authors, artists, artisans and merchants have gathered and set up kiosks—including some RFL vendors in addition to the ones we already have on site.

Our schedule of events is thus:

CURRENT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
(All time is game time, which is the equivalent of Pacific Daylight Savings Time.)

Thursday, April 2
5:30pm SLT – Welcome Party with Kat & Mike
6:00pm SLT – Live stream of the Slice of SciFi podcast

Friday, April 3, 2009

6 pm SLT – Charity Auction for Relay for Life (One of the auction items I am donating is my doing a critique of your story (up to 7,500 words or three chapters). Under normal circumstances, I don’t do this outside of a class situation, so this is a rare thing indeed.)

Monday, April 6

7pm SLT – Closing Ceremonies

Clicking on this link here will put you right in the thick of things.

Getting into Second Life is easy, and doesn’t cost a cent. Set up an account, download the software, and then you can click here. That will take you to a spot in the Third Life and Farpoint Media area where we have a lot of free stuff for new folks.

Auction Note: The Second Life software and registration is free. To bid in the auction, however, you will need a supply of the game currency. You can obtain this by purchasing money by linking to a credit card or PayPal account. Game money is required since it will be paid directly into the donation kiosks which send it immediately to the American Cancer Society.

This is going to be a ton of fun. Please join us!
